The second weekend of the campaign got off to an excellent start with glorious sunshine. Local Conservatives set up a street stall in Bewdley to welcome shoppers and to spread the message for change in Wyre Forest - and it was well received!

 

16th April 2010

This afternoon, Mark Garnier visited the traders in Kidderminster's Comberton Hill to see how business was getting along and to listen to concerns about the proposed road changes. The shops along 'The Hill' rely on quick stop-off trade and the proposed road changes with regard to the relocation of traffic lights will remove some of the stop off parking bays.

William Hague MP visited Kidderminster today to help with the local campaign. William, who will be Foreign Secretary should Conservatives win the general election, came to Wyre Forest to support Mark Garnier's local campaign. With the market full of shoppers, despite the cold weather, William and Mark were well received.

 

13th April 2010

On the day that Conservatives announced the manifesto, Mark was out and about again. First in Far Forest to meet with local residents worried about their local environment, and then into Bewdley to meet with local shop owners.

With the campaign in full swing, the first day of the second week was no less hectic! Mark started the day by addressing a meeting of the CWC at Kidderminster Golf Club, where 80 local ladies listened to reports of progress on the campaign. This was followed by a visit to the Nightingales care home in Wolverley and then the day was rounded off with door knocking in Offmore and Comberton.

Local Conservatives took the campaign to the streets again, rallying support for the NHS. Stourport was the venue for this important cause and many local residents and visitors to the town signed the petitions for NHS cancer care.

8th April 2010

Some of the Conservative team gathered together in Kidderminster to spread the word amongst shoppers at the town centre market. The mood on the street is definitely one of 'change'. After years and years of Labour's broken promises and chronic mismanagement of the economy, there is a real sense of anticipation.

7th April 2010

Margaret Thatcher House in Kidderminster has been buzzing with activity since the election was called. Volunteers have been pouring through the doors to help deliver leaflets, knock on doors, and prepare mailings to residents in Wyre Forest.

6th April 2010

Today, Gordon Brown finally called for the dissolution of Parliament and has named the date for the general election: 6th May. Preparations have been in place for months and the Conservative team have spent the day getting out the first of the posters, delivering the first election literature to voters, and knocking doors across Wyre Forest.

Gordon Brown has gone to the Palace and a General Election will be held on the 6th May. This will be the most important election of a generation. This will be a real chance for change. This election will decide who will govern Great Britain for the next five years.
