Local Conservatives in Stourport-on-Severn today handed over nearly 1,000 signatures to contribute to the campaign to save Stourport's Royal Mail delivery office. Rumours abound that the important local facility is facing the axe as Post Offices bosses make service cuts.

Worcestershire's Conservative candidates have repeated their call for a delay to huge changes to the running of the local NHS in the run up to the general election and welcomed NHS Worcestershire's announcement that public consultation will take place after the election.

Mark visited Bewdley based Community Transport Helpline today to learn more of the important work done by this local charity, and met with Chief Officer Vince Taylor to see the offices, meet with volunteers and to hear more of their work.

Mark Garnier, Wyre Forest's Conservative Parliamentary Candidate today expressed his concern at plans by Gordon Brown's Government to force all families across Wyre Forest to pay a compulsory levy to own a dog. This would apply to all dogs - including poodles and chihuahuas.

The Mercian Regiment paraded through Kidderminster and Bewdley today to enormous applause in both towns on their homecoming from Afghanistan.

The Worcestershire branch of the Federation of Small Businesses held an election debate, questioning Worcestershire's Conservative hopefuls on their plans for the local community. Chaired by Worcestershire FSB Chairman Ken Wigfield, five Conservative prospective MPs were asked by a gathering of local businessmen and women about Conservative policy both nationally and locally.

Worcestershire's Conservative candidates have met county hospital chiefs to discuss plans to change the way in which community health services are delivered in the county. At the meeting held on Friday at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, managers explained why they felt the best interests of patients and staff would be served by merging the community hospitals and a range of other services into the Acute Hospital Trust.
