Mark Garnier at Family Learning Festival 2009 Launch

The Campaign for Learning launched its 2009 festival in Bewdley Museum. Mark joined many local school kids and civic dignitaries to celebrate the launch of this important initiative, promoted by the Bewdley Festival.

The Family Learning Festival is an annual event introduced by the Campaign for Learning, which aims to promote the importance of learning at home as a valuable supplement to school learning. Chief executive Tricia Hartly and regional development officer Christine Blowman joined Bewdley Festival director Jenny Paddock to mark the local launch of this important event.

Mark said of the festival: “Learning at home is all about families being together to pass on skills and ideas to one another. It is about more than learning reading, writing and arithmetic: it is about families teaching each other life skills – the art of conversation, good manners, interest in current events, hobbies and many things that come from being together. I was delighted to have been asked to this and proud to be a supporter of this important organisation.”
