Pupils in Wyre Forest will receive an extra £97 each from 2014/15
The Government has announced today that the least fairly funded schools in the country will benefit from a £390 million cash boost. Worcestershire will receive an increase in funding of £6.7 million.
The cash boost was initially put out for consultation in March 2014 and it was proposed that schools in Wyre Forest would receive an extra £71 per pupil. Further to the consultation the cash boost has been increased by £40 million meaning that schools in Worcestershire will be receiving an increase in funding of 2.5% rather than the originally proposed 1.7%.
Mark Garnier said “This is good news for schools in Wyre Forest. Our pupils will now benefit from an extra £97 each. This shows that the hard work of the F40 group and Worcestershire MPs is really paying off. Since the last funding announcement in March we have maintained pressure on the Government and continued to push for a fairer funding system.
This announcement shows that the Government has listened to the consultation and is acknowledging the unfairness of the current system. This extra funding will go some way to addressing the imbalance. However the F40 group will continue to maintain pressure on the government to ensure that there is a fairer system and I will continue to ensure that Wyre Forest schools get a better deal.”
