Mark Garnier, Wyre Forest’s Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman, has pledged to “do his bit” for the British Armed Forces family. Mark met with representatives from The Royal British Legion at the recent Conservative party conference in Manchester where he was presented with a copy of the Legion’s manifesto for the next general election.

Stourport based Carpets of Kidderminster recently won an order to supply Azerbaijan's Presidential Palace with thousands of square feet of carpet, so Mark Garnier leapt at the opportunity to find out more about the opportunity presented to the local firm.

The Stourport Workmens' Club recently hosted a meeting of local independent financial advisors (IFAs), whose livelihoods are threatened by proposed FSA measures. The meeting was called so that Mark Garnier and fellow Worcestershire based Conservative Parliamentary Candidates were given an opportunity to meet with, and listen to, the concerns of regional IFAs.

The campaign to keep head and neck cancer operations in Worcestershire continued yesterday at a meeting in the Charles Hastings Education Centre at the Worcester Royal Hospital.

Mark Garnier, Wyre Forest’s Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman, has called for Government tax inspectors to come clean on their plans to increase taxes on family homes. New evidence has emerged of the Government preparing for a council tax revaluation across England, aimed at increasing tax bills in order to fill the black hole in Britain’s ruined public finances.

The Office for National Statistics yesterday announced that unemployment has continued to rise, taking the jobless figure to 2.4 million, a sharp rise of 220,000 in three months. This means that 7.8% of the workforce are now unemployed. Beneath the statistics lies a more depressing number. According to the BBC's calculations, the number of 16 to 24 year-olds unemployed now stands at 928,000 or 12.6%.

Conservative MPs and candidates from across Worcestershire have joined forces to call for a proper consultation process on any the decision that could lead to Head and Neck cancer surgery being moved from the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The Wyre Forest Conservative Association yesterday hosted a Kemp Hospice ‘Tea @ 3’ event to raise awareness of Kemp Hospice’s important local work. Kemp Hospice launched its ‘Tea @ 3’ promotion on the 1st June with an open afternoon at Kemp Hospice.

Mark Garnier today joined Conservative calls for the Government to take immediate action to protect voluntary groups across Wyre Forest from soaring water charges. As a result of Government guidance, charges for surface water drainage are being introduced by some water companies, dubbed the 'rain tax'.
