Digital ID

The Labour Government has announced its intention to roll out Digital ID by the end of this Parliament (2029).

According to the government announcement, digital IDs could be used for things like proving your right to work, applying for benefits, accessing childcare, or verifying your age. Employers would be legally required to check them as proof of the right to work. A public consultation on the details of the scheme is expected later this year.
