Across the country today, Conservatives have been campaigning to put an end to Gordon Brown's NHS cuts. In a strong display of solidarity for Kidderminster, Mark Garnier was joined by Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride and Redditch Conservative Parliamentary candidate Karen Lumley.
Worcestershire is suffering further cuts under Gordon Brown's unfair control of the health budget. With 720 NHS workers due to lose their jobs, local Conservatives are standing up for the future of those workers.
The county-wide campaign started with street stalls in Worcester, Redditch and Bromsgrove before moving on at lunch time to Kidderminster, where local residents already know the effects of Labour health cuts.
Mark Garnier commented:
"It was a great pleasure to be able to help Karen Lumley in Redditch, where the Alexandra Hospital faces the biggest cuts under Gordon Brown's intransigence. Local residents there were understandably very angry indeed about what has been proposed to their hospital and they showed their anger by signing Karen's petition.
"I am also very grateful indeed for Karen and Julie for joining me and local activists in Kidderminster where we collected over 200 signatures in just an hour and half. Kidderminster town centre was very busy and it was interesting to hear the views of local residents who just cannot understand why the Government keeps on cutting services in Worcestershire, despite the series of clear votes at elections in the past against any health cuts locally."
Mark Garnier is distributing leaflets across Wyre Forest over the next six weeks and urges people to sign and return the prepaid reply slip.
"We are all in this together. David Cameron has proposals that will support health workers and services and he has made it perfectly clear that his number one priority is the NHS. Gordon Brown is ignoring Wyre Forest's views: David Cameron is listening and acting on them."
