Mark Garnier, recently re-selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Wyre Forest, today welcomed the outcome of the Conservative Party leadership ballot. Members of the wider Conservative Party have voted by more than two to one in favour of 39 year old David Cameron MP to lead the party into the next general election.
In his victory speech, David Cameron highlighted his vision of an inclusive, compassionate and modern Conservative Party, taking pride in Great Britain as it is today and looking forward to a prosperous future under a Conservative Government.
Speaking from the Conservative offices in Kidderminster, Mark Garnier commented: "I am truly delighted that David Cameron is our new leader. I strongly believe that his youth and vision are the two key elements that will win sufficient support for David to be the next Conservative Prime Minister.
"Having been recently re-selected to fight the Wyre Forest seat for the Conservative Party at the next general election, the choice of leader is, for me, incredibly important - it can make or break my election chances. All those who put their name forward to be leader are excellent candidates, but I believe that David Cameron has the edge. I look forward to bringing his message to the people of Wyre Forest; to demonstrating his vision in the context of the local area; and to playing a vital role in helping David be the next Conservative Prime Minister."
