Nearly a decade after the Labour Government closed the A+E department at Kidderminster Hospital, Wyre Forest is to get a doctor led urgent care service (UCS). The new UCS is a pilot scheme to build on the existing minor injuries unit which currently provides an Emergency Nurse Practitioner. The new arrangements will supplement this with two staff grade doctors who will work within the minor injuries unit.
The pilot is scheduled to run from the 1st October this year to the 31st March 2008 and will be in service Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Mark Garnier comments:
"This is very good news indeed and I fully welcome the steps taken by Jeff Crawshaw and the staff at the Kidderminster Treatment Centre to provide this service. I would also like to express enormous gratitude to the Kidderminster league of Friends who have made a significant donation to help finance this.
"We are all well aware of the difficulties within the NHS service, struggling with budget cuts introduced by the labour Government. This shows clearly how local efforts by all political parties can make some small amends to the staggering damage inflicted by Gordon Brown on Wyre Forest's health provision."
Mark Garnier has been collecting signatures from local residents angry at Gordon Brown's latest round of health cuts - around 1,000 people have expressed their disgust at nationwide health cuts.
