The Right Honourable Oliver Letwin MP, Conservative Shadow Cabinet member and Head of Conservative Policy Review, last night visited Wyre Forest to meet with local representatives of core public services. Mr Letwin was a guest of Wyre Forest Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman Mark Garnier and was in Kidderminster to hear the views of interested local parties - views that will crucially be taken into account when the Conservative Party finalises its policies ahead of the next general election.
Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment Peter Ainsworth MP today visited Wyre Forest to see for himself the much heralded local facilities. After visiting the Network Worcestershire electrical goods recycling plant in Oldington and Foley Park, and then the Green Street offices of Wyre Forest District council where recycling is managed, the Conservative front bench spokesman for the environment declared himself "very impressed indeed".
Today, local members of the Wyre Forest Conservative Association gave up their Saturday Morning to tend to flower beds and collect litter in Brinton Park in Kidderminster. Their action was to bring attention to the fact that we are all responsible for looking after our environment.
This week, the Labour Government announced its latest target for cuts. Now, it seems, Post Offices are due to come under Gordon Brown's service cuts knife. With 2,500 due to be closed across the country, Wyre Forest is unlikely to escape the cull.

Worrying new figures released by the Government have revealed that across Wyre Forest, there has been a fall of a truly staggering 22,252 men and women - 50% - who are registered with an NHS dentist since 1997. This contrasts with Tony Blair's promise in 1999 that everyone would be guaranteed an NHS dentist within two years.

On a fact finding trip to Israel, Mark visited the northernmost border with Lebanon, seeing first hand areas affected by the controversial conflict fought between Israel and Hezbollah in the southern part of Lebanon.
Mark Garnier, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Wyre Forest today added his name to the latest Conservative action designed to finally give justice to all English farmers, suffering under the Government's staggering inertia regarding payments owed to them.
1,000 sub-postmasters marched on Parliament yesterday protesting at post office closures, whilst government ministers asserted that there are still "too many offices". Under the current Labour Government, a quarter of the post office network has already been slashed, with Wyre Forest no exception to the cull. More cuts are expected as a result of Labour's plans to abolish the Post Office Card Account in 2010.
