Figures released by the Office for National Statistics this morning show a further 0.6% growth of the UK economy in the second quarter of 2013.
This is 0.3% up from the first quarter this year.
The ONS data further highlights that all four main sectors of the economy (agriculture, production, construction, and services) increased in the three months to June 2013.
The latest figures are 1.4% higher compared with the same quarter last year.
Mark Garnier said: "I welcome these figures, which meet the market's expectations, and exceed the Government's official forecasts.
"While I recognise that we still have a long way to go in terms of fixing Labour's broken economy, these latest GDP figures are a sign that the economy is heading in the right direction. Importantly, the rate of recovery is getting faster, clearly demonstrating that the government is absolutely on the right track."
