Mark Garnier has, again, criticised oil companies for charging disproportionately high local petrol prices.
Speaking in the House of Commons on Friday 23rd March, Mark said:
"[Oil companies] are ripping off my constituents in Wyre Forest and I want them to stop....when you compare the price of oil to pre-tax profits over the last ten years, it demonstrates that oil companies are simply not passing on extra profits to consumers. Indeed, they are making extra profits from consumers."
Mark called on the Government to put pressure on the oil companies to pass on their profits to the general public.
Speaking after the debate he also said he intended to ask representatives from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Exxon Mobil and Rontec to meet with him to discuss why they set their prices so high.
