Mark Garnier MP last week attended the annual Parliamentary music competition, Rock the House.
The winners of the competition performed on the Commons Terrace last Wednesday, in front of celebrities, press, and industry experts. The competition aims at raising awareness of intellectual property and live performance issues with parliamentarians.
The competition is judged in four categories: bands, solo artists, solo artists under 19, and best small music venue. The Boar's Head, an arts centre in Kidderminster, won the best venue category and received their award at the House of Commons last week.
Mark Garnier said: "This is a fantastic result for the Boar's Head, for Kidderminster, and for Wyre Forest. We have a wealth of talent across the district and a range of music venues - all of which are excellent.
"Wyre Forest was a big entrant into the competition with many bands submitting songs. The district has long been a hotbed of contemporary music talent and it is great to see that it continues with not just excellent artists, but also fantastic venues."
The competition is backed by cross-party MPs and Ministers, as well as rock stars, including Alice Cooper, Deep Purple's Ian Gillan, Thin Lizzy's Scott Goreham, and Bee Gees' Robin Gibb.
