Mark Garnier MP for Wyre Forest today announces his pleasure that number of unemployment claimants in Wyre Forest was only 2,247. This is 388 lower than the same time last year and a substantial decrease of 17.3%.
Upon hearing the figures, published yesterday by the Office for National Statistics, Mr Garnier said, "I am extremely pleased to see that the constituency of Wyre Forest is showing sure signs of recovery after the hard times it has experienced over the past few years."
"Moreover, I am thrilled to see that these local statistics are also representative of a wider trend throughout the UK. Figures from the Office of National Statistics also show that the employment rate for the three months to July 2010 was 70.7%. This shows an increase of 0.4% and is the largest quarterly rise since the three months to May 1989. This is obviously fantastic news and long may it continue".
