At a meeting of the Wyre Forest Conservative Association executive committee on Friday 4th October, Mark Garnier MP was re-adopted as the Conservative candidate for Wyre Forest's 2015 general election campaign.
Wyre Forest Conservative Association James Dudley said: "We are delighted that Mark has both been eager to continue here in Wyre Forest and re-adopted as our 2015 candidate. He has been an outstanding MP and has successfully widened the local political debate from the single issue of the hospital to the far wider range of the local economy, support for the local industries, job creation and for the local community. He is an individual who is well respected and carries a great deal of weight in Westminster, and he is an asset for the whole of Wyre Forest."
Wyre Forest District Council leader John Campion added: "Mark has been a significant resource for the district council in Westminster, championing the cause of the local area and providing much needed support for us at the heart of government. It is important for the district to have an MP who punches above his weight and carries respect in Westminster: Mark Garnier is that man."
Mark Garnier MP said: "It has been ten years since I was first selected to represent Wyre Forest for the conservatives. It has been an immense privilege for me and one that I am delighted will continue up to and, I hope, beyond the next election. Since winning the election in 2010, I have worked hard across a wide range of issues, giving Wyre Forest as loud a voice as I can in Westminster. My re-adoption gives me the opportunity to continue my work to bring more jobs locally, help promote a higher weekly wage, and to support local economic development."
Since being elected, Mark Garnier has served on a number of influential Parliamentary committees, including the Treasury Select Committee, and the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards, where he has been instrumental in repairing our broken financial system. He has also set up new all party groups specifically to help Wyre Forest, including the APPG for Heritage Railways, the APPG for the Carpet Industry, and the APPG for the Economy of the West Midlands (all of which he chairs, the latter co-chairing), as well as working on many other issues such as to eradicate the scourge of scrap metal theft, securing financial education on the schools' curriculum, working to bring inward investment into the district and supporting the community in a wide range of specific areas.
