Mark Garnier MP pressed transport ministers today for a meeting to discuss the possibility of building a Stourport Relief Road off the A451 and through the former sugar beet site. This road would provide welcome relief to the residents and businesses of Stourport, which suffers from severe congestion during rush hour traffic.
In a question in the House of Commons, Mark managed to secure a meeting with Norman Baker MP, Minister for Transport. The meeting will take place on 8th February during which Mark also wants to discuss the possibility of a Hoo Brook Road, another proposal which would also alleviate traffic.
Mark, who has been campaigning for this road since he was selected as a parliamentary candidate in 2004, said:
“Bringing economic prosperity to Wyre Forest is my number one priority and part of delivering that is improving the local road infrastructure. People know I have been pushing the Stourport Relief Road for many years, but the Hoo Brook link road is another, cheaper road that will enhance traffic movement around the south of Kidderminster and in particular the South Kidderminster Business Park.”
