Mark Garnier, Member of Parliament for Wyre Forest, today offers his sympathy to those affected by last week's announcement that Carpets of Kidderminster Ltd will undergo a phase of restructuring that includes 50 job losses.
50 out of the 122 people who work in the company face redundancy after management and shareholders decided to place the company into administration. This decision was made in the wake of the recession and a period of difficult trading. It has come as a great disappointment to many within the region as the company, established in 1934, is Wyre Forest's third largest carpet manufacturer.
Mark Garnier said "It is a great tragedy that such a long standing company such as Carpets of Kidderminster should have to rescale in such a way. My sincerest sympathies go out to those who have lost their jobs. I am in close contact with the management of the company and I am optimistic about its future. I share the management's confidence in the company's ability to return to profitability. I wish it and its employees the very best"
