The Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) today announced new reforms to the energy market. These reforms are in line with the Government's Energy Bill which is currently in parliament.
The reforms aim at making the market simpler by restricting suppliers to offering four simple core tariffs per fuel type, and requiring them to give all their customers personalised information on the cheapest tariff they offer for them. Suppliers will now also be required to send clear bills which are easier for customers to understand.
Mark Garnier commented: "I know that people across Wyre Forest are concerned about their energy bills, therefore I am very pleased to see that the new reforms will bring more simplification and clarity to the energy market, allowing people to easily choose the cheapest tariff on offer.
"Ofgem's reforms take a big step in the right direction, and follow the Prime Minister's promise last year to get the lowest tariffs for consumers."
