Mark today (15th May 2012) attended an event at the House of Commons to show his support for people suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.). The event was organised by Action for M.E., the leading UK charity for sufferers and their carers. The event comes during M.E. awareness month and marks the charity's campaign, Time for Action. This campaign aims to draw attention to the ignorance, injustice and neglect surrounding this illness.
Mark is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on M.E. and is patron of the Worcestershire M.E. support group. Speaking after the event he said:
"ME is an appalling condition that still has little understanding in both the wider community and the medical profession. Having worked with sufferers, I am keen that this condition receives as much attention as possible and that is why I am proud to be the patron of the Worcestershire ME Support Group, and to support ME Awareness Month in every way I can"
