Wyre Forest’s MP, Mark Garnier, together with fellow Conservative Richard Harrington, MP for Watford, today spoke up for small businesses and the self employed. Mark and Richard jointly called the debate, held in Westminster Hall, highlighting issues facing small business.
Mark spoke of the government’s achievement so far and how it can do more in the area of taxation, regulation and access to finance. Richard concentrated on education and the social acceptance of small businesses.
Speaking immediately after the debate Mark said: The government’s role in helping small businesses is crucial. Too many businesses are facing a headwind of regulation, complexity in the tax system and poor access to funds. Businesses need to stand alone, but the government must get off their backs and allow them to prosper. Too much regulation and complexity has built up over the last few years and this government is starting to tackle the issues.
Later, Sir Richard Branson congratulated the two MPs on their contribution to the important issue of help for small businesses.
