Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, has supported a White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) against domestic abuse. Joined by other Worcestershire MPs in Parliament, Mark's hand prints were put on a banner to promote the 'These Hands Are Not For Hurting' campaign.
The WRC is an international movement encouraging men to speak out against violence against women and girls. 45% of women have experienced some form of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking in their lifetime, and domestic violence in the UK is estimated to cost victims, services and the state a total of around £23 billion a year. The campaign takes place between 25th November and 10th December.
Mark said, "It was a privilege to put my hand prints onto a WRC banner to promote this incredibly important issue and to take part in this international campaign. Domestic abuse is a sadly all too frequent occurrence, and anything that can be done to tackle it should be done."
