The Office for National Statistics today published the latest jobs figures confirming that unemployment in the UK has continued to fall, whilst those in work now stands at a record level.
In Wyre Forest, January unemployment is down 0.2% from January 2012 to 4.8% - significantly lower than the national average of 7.8%.
Mark Garnier said: "Whilst it is encouraging to see that unemployed numbers are down, and employment is up, there is still more work to be done. It is vital that we keep working to not just reduce unemployment, but also underemployment. For the long term, we need to get back to strong economic growth to see wages increase with the economy.
"In order to help Wyre Forest residents find work, I have put on two jobs fairs. I am pleased to say that we are currently preparing for our third Jobs Fair on the 7th of June 2013. It is, I believe, important for local MPs to help their constituents in every way they can and putting on jobs fairs is one such way."
