Mark today (13th April 2012) initiated a meeting between Maria Miller MP, Minister for State for Families, and the Worcestershire Family Intervention Project (WFIP), formally based in Kidderminster. The meeting follows on from a visit to Birchen Coppice Primary School by Iain Duncan Smith, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, which took place last October.
Mark hosted the meeting between representatives from the WFIP and Maria Miller to highlight the extraordinary work WFIP do in Wyre Forest and the wider area of Worcestershire. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss more ways the Government can support projects such as the WFIP.
Mark said: "The work of FIP is incredibly important and I am delighted that a project which started in Kidderminster has gone on to become county wide.
"There is no quick solution to helping families in crisis. Help needs to be provided on a case by case basis and today's meeting was a great opportunity to explore further ways that this Government can support initiatives like the WFIP."
WFIP works as part of the Vestia Group and works with families in need, at risk of eviction or whose children may be entering care or the criminal justice system.
