Mark Garnier has welcomed the decision by No10 to launch a review of 'opt-in' rules to access adult online content.
Under the plans set out by the Government, it would be up to customers to opt in to receiving adult content when they sign up for a broadband contract.
The decision follows an independent Parliamentary Inquiry into Online Child Protection, of which Mark was a key member.
Mark said,
"I am delighted that the government has read the recommendations of the Inquiry and are showing a commitment to protecting our children online.
"Like many parents with young children I care deeply about what my kids can see on the internet. But whilst any parent will do their best to protect their children, it is increasingly difficult to be able to protect your child when their natural curiosity, in an unsupervised environment, may lead them to find unpleasant material. For this reason I think that opt in filters are the best protection for children whist at home and at friend's houses."
