Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, welcomes the news that the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP Board have given the green light to funding the first part of a new link road at Hoobrook Kidderminster. The announcement follows on from a meeting in February between the Worcestershire MP and transport minister Norman Baker, during which Mark made a strong case for the link road.
Mark, who has been campaigning for improvements to the local roads for eight years, said:
"It is a huge frustration for anyone who commutes through South Kidderminster on a daily basis, struggling to get past the Britons Park bottle bank. The Hoobrook link road will not only bypass this well know traffic bottle neck, but will also create a far improved infrastructure to large parts of the South Kidderminster Business Park. This and other similar developments are absolutely instrumental in bringing more jobs to our district."
The LEP Board has approved £12.075m for the first eight projects to be 'unlocked' through the Growing Places Fund. The new link road at Hoobrook will provide access to 24 hectares of key development land for new homes and businesses on the former British Sugar site on Stourport Road.
