After a Joint Services Review (JSR) meeting last week, NHS Worcestershire has announced their aim to keep all three hospitals - Alexandra, Kidderminster, and Worcestershire Royal - operational.
The decision was informed by advice from senior clinicians in Worcestershire, and the views of locals, and is designed to provide consistently high-quality services within a reliable framework.
Eamonn Kelly, Chief Executive of NHS Worcestershire, said "there are no guarantees that this will be the final outcome but we are committed to making sure we have explored every opportunity to provide the fullest range of services possible across the three sites. This means we will now aim to start consultation, after a second phase of public engagement in the New Year."
Mark Garnier, Member of Parliament for Wyre Forest, has been steadfastly committed to the healthcare services in Worcestershire since his election in 2010, particularly within his constituency. Speaking after the announcement, Mark said: "This is good news for Kidderminster Hospital and good news for Wyre Forest. This announcement means that not only will Kidderminster keep its current services, but it also presents opportunities for expansion."
