Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, welcomes announcement of possible new local driving test facilities.
After leading the campaign against the closure of Kidderminster's driving test centre, Mark Garnier MP has today welcomed a statement from Road Safety Minister, Mike Penning MP, announcing that the DSA are looking to improve the provision of testing services in the Worcestershire area. This could include the re-introduction of testing at Kidderminster.
Mr Garnier said "I have been lobbying the Minister since the election to restore testing in Wyre Forest. There was huge upset at the closure of Kidderminster's test centre by the previous Labour government, and our campaign was supported by many instructors and pupils from across the county. Today's news is absolutely excellent."
Fellow test centre campaigner, Cllr Julian Phillips, also welcome the announcement: "This is a welcome announcement by not just me, but all those driving instructors, learner drivers and the rest of the community who backed our campaign in 2008 and 2009. All our efforts were not in vain. I am grateful to Mr Garnier for not letting this rest. This demonstrates an effective MP at work supported in Westminster by a listening government!"
