New employment figures for Wyre Forest show the number of unemployed claimants is 77 higher than in January this year. This raises the total number of unemployed to 2,431 and represents 5% of the economically active population.
Speaking about the figures Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, said,
"I am incredibly sad to hear the news that unemployment has gone up in Wyre Forest. As the local MP one of my top priorities is to bring jobs and prosperity to this area. This is why I have organised the Wyre Forest Jobs Fair which will link up potential employers with all those looking for a job.
"These figures tell me that 2, 431 people should be turning up to the fair which is taking place at Kidderminster Town Hall on 29th March. I urge all those who have recently lost their jobs to come along and see what businesses in Wyre Forest have to offer."
