Over 70 people turned up to the Working Men’s Club in Stourport last Thursday to meet representatives of Royal Mail. The meeting, set up by Wyre Forest’s MP, Mark Garnier, was a chance for locals to discuss the proposal to close the Stourport Delivery Office. Opinions from all sides were voiced and heard.
After the meeting Mark said, “I am very pleased that so many people turned up to the meeting and were able to express their concerns. I am grateful to Royal Mail who allowed us to persuade them into making an exception for Stourport and come along and meet the local residents, local businesses and other interested parties. The dialog between the Royal Mail and interested parties will continue and they have provided assurances that they are working towards the best outcome for all involved.”
A period of consultation between Royal Mail, business managers and the unions continues.
