Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, met with representatives of Royal Mail last week to discuss the proposed closure of the Stourport delivery office. The outcome of the meeting, held in Westminster, was that Royal Mail would come to Wyre Forest to meet with businesses and the wider community to discuss their concerns.
Royal Mail has begun a consultation with the Communication Worker's Union (CWU) on plans to close the delivery office and merge it with the Kidderminster sorting office. However, local residents and local businesses have voiced fears about the impact this will have to their postal services.
Mark met last week to address these fears and was pleased when Royal Mail agreed to meet with local people. He said:
"I am very pleased that, following our meeting, the Royal Mail has recognised that the future of the Stourport delivery office is a serious local concern. My office is now in touch with Royal Mail to settle a date for such a meeting in which they can explain why they have proposed these changes. I urge all those from the business community and wider community to attend."
