Mark welcomes the news that Stourport will keep its delivery office.
Mark, who has meet with Royal Mail on several occasions about the proposed closure, was delighted to hear the news in a telephone call from Royal Mail earlier today.
Speaking after the call he said:
"This is really good news for Stourport. There has been strong local objection to this closure for some time and I am pleased that Royal Mail have finally listened to the views of the local population.
"Following on from the recent announcement of investment into the Stourport basins, this is the second bit of good news that the town has received in recent weeks. I am delighted for the residents and businesses in Stourport and for the post workers in the delivery office. I also want to pay tribute to Michael Dobbins who has worked hard on this campaign on behalf of the town."
The future of the delivery office has been uncertain for over two years. Whilst this news does not guarantee that the delivery office will never close, it at least it secures its survival for the foreseeable future.
