The campaign to save Stourport's postal delivery office continues from strength to strength, with many local residents signing petitions. Local Conservatives have been delivering thousands of reply cards to all houses in Stourport, giving local residents the opportunity to sign and return, showing their support for this important local resource. This is in addition to the petitions in local shops, the facebook group and the petition on the Ten Downing Street website.
Mark Garnier, co-ordinating the campaign for the Conservatives, said: "It is incredibly important that we show full support to the Communication Worker's Union campaign to save this important local resource. Closure of this local delivery office will burden local businesses with extra demands, it will increase traffic on our already congested roads, and it will be another nail in the coffin for Stourport, already suffering badly under the recession."
The campaign received another boost recently when Mark Garnier enlisted the support of neighbouring constituencies, affected by the closure. Peter Luff MP (Mid Worcestershire) and Harriett Baldwin (PPC for West Worcestershire) both pledged their support for this delivery office. With deliveries from this office going south from Stourport on both sides of the River Severn, it is more than just Wyre Forest that is affected.
Local residents are encouraged to sign up to the campaign. They can do so by returning the Conservatives reply cards to the pre paid address, by signing any one of the petitions located locally, or by signing online at the Ten Downing Street website or joining the Facebook site.
