All MPs across Worcestershire have warmly welcomed the news of the new leadership at Worcestershire County Council. Cllr Adrian Hardman has been made leader, whilst Cllr Simon Geraghty is his deputy. The news comes after the majority Conservative group selected their leader and deputy, and after the county council confirmed the appointments on Thursday.
In a joint statement, the six Worcestershire MPs said: “We are delighted that Adrian has been confirmed as leader of Worcestershire County Council. He brings a wealth of experience and in these strained times, his experience of accountancy and economics is essential for the county to move forward. He will be well supported by his deputy Simon, who also brings valuable experience to his role and by his cabinet team. We all look forward to helping Adrian and Simon settle into their new roles and to working together as a team for the benefit of Worcestershire residents.”
On a personal note, Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest added: “I have known Adrian for many years and have always held him in great respect. He has always been very supportive, and he is an excellent team player. He will make an excellent leader and Worcestershire will benefit from his, and Simon’s experience and expertise.”
The six Worcestershire MPs are: Harriett Baldwin (West Worcestershire), Mark Garnier (Conservative, Wyre Forest), Sajid Javid (Conservative, Bromsgrove), Peter Luff (Conservative, Mid Worcestershire), Karen Lumley (Conservative, Bromsgrove County) and Robin Walker (Conservative, Worcester).
