Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, has been appointed chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Heritage Railways.
Having been Treasurer of the APPG for over a year, Mark has worked to represent the interests of Severn Valley Railway in Wyre Forest - the largest heritage railway in the country. Now as Chair, he will begin significant new work to assess the economic impact of heritage railways on local communities, expected to begin in the New Year.
Mark said, "I am absolutely delighted to take over from Nicky Morgan as chair of this APPG. I look forward to continuing the hard work she began to promote the interests of heritage railways as important local assets."
