Stourbridge College and Kidderminster Harrier’s new Hospitality Academy restaurant, The Academy, was officially opened by Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, on Friday 30th September 2011. A special Gala Dinner was laid on to mark the restaurant’s new opening and to celebrate 125 years of football at the club.
The Academy restaurant, which is run by 30 young hospitality and catering apprentices, is now open to members of the public for functions and events including weddings, christenings, funerals and parties as well as providing Match Day Hospitality for local businesses and Kidderminster Harriers football fans.
Mark Garnier said: “This is a fantastic achievement for both Stourbridge College and Kidderminster Harriers. Not only is this providing real work and training opportunities for young people locally, the football club is at the heart of our community and it’s great to see partnerships like this making a valuable contribution in this area.”
Yeohan Cunningham, Hospitality Academy Manager, said: “Both food preparation and front of house services including table service are being provided by the students – some of them are still only 16. They are showing an amazing maturity. The new restaurant is open every Thursday for Candlelight Dinners – three courses for under £15 – and we are providing Express Lunches for £6.95.”
